The 2008/09 season saw the return of the Cheddar Senior team. Six games were played through the season and the side attracted many old and new faces to represent the club. Next season will see an increase in the number of games with a view to creating a league side by the 2010/11 season. If you are interested in returning to rugby after a lay-off or are new to the area then please contact either Craig Furneux (craig.furneux@cheddar-rugby.co.uk) or Steve Lorimer (steve.lorimer@cheddar-rugby.co.uk).
The 2009 Cheddar Festival on 26th April saw over 2500 people descend on Cheddar for the 29th Annual tournament. Teams from across the South West turned out to put on a fantastic display of rugby. The day proved yet again that Cheddar can host the biggest and best festival of mini and junior rugby in the West.
A huge contingent from the mighty Cheddar descended on Bristol on Sunday 25th for a fantastic day out. Three coaches packed full went first to Avonmouth OBRFC for a superb training session run by the Bristol Rugby Community department and then we travelled to Bristol's Memorial Ground stadium to watch them earn a much needed win over Montpellier. The Cheddar players took to the field in a parade around the ground to great applause from the 4500 Bristol fans and then formed the tunnel through which the Senior teams entered the field.
Ladies night was again another huge success for the club. The venue looked fantastic, the food was excellent, the band superb and the dancing decidedly dodgy! All who took part enjoyed the evening immensly and the evening raised a good amount for the club coffers. Watch this space and the gallery for photo's of the event coming soon.
